Thanks to everyone on MoPo who replied to this!
I did not use every suggestion, but I did add the following:
Matty Walker Kathleen Turner - Body Heat (1981)
Ellen Berent Harland (Gene Tierney) - Leave Her to Heaven (1945)
Lee Marvin (Liberty Valence) - The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence (1962)
You missed my favorite: David Patrick Kelly (Luther) in THE WARRIORS.
I first saw the movie in the summer of '79, and he's still my role
model.

yep ditto, the Reverend Harry Powell is the one that shrieks evil bastard.

One that always chilled me to the bone was Damien's nanny: Mrs Maylock (Billie
Whielaw) in The Omen (1976) and honourable mention would go to Friendo.

Though he's not my choice, I don't see Darth Vader on your list. Also, Sir Guy
of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone in Adventures of Robin Hood) is missing.
My choice would be Rev. Harry Powell.

since bruce included Phyliss Dietrichson...let's go for the 2 similar
characters to?which some say Double Indemnity inspired:
??? THEMLA JORDON stanwyck, THELMA JORDON
MATTY kathleen turner's role (or was it maryann)?-- BODY HEAT
?? who was the female lead in LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN ??
I don't think of Darth as human or non-supernatural and I think Guy was
just following orders.

I'd nominate Veda Pierce (Ann Blyth), from Mildred Pierce (1945).
Downright evil.

Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) - Casino
Nasty to the most imaginable extreme. NOTHING redeeming about the character.

There are just too many to choose from...although Javier Barden is way
up on my as Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men. Aaron Eckhart
played a character named Chad in a little-seen film called In the
Company of Men. Unbelievably good movie, with terrific performances by
the three leads.
Hannibal Lecter wasn't even the most evil character in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.
That's like saying that the Alien in the Alien movies was evil. Burke
from ALIENS - now that was an evil guy. Like Darth Vader wasn't the most
evil character in the STAR WARS universe, it was the Emperor - unless you
actually.. the most evil person might be among these:
Jane Greer as Kathy Moffat in Out of the Past
truly, she may have been the most wicked of all femme fatales
Ann Savage as Vera in Detour
Hope Emerson as the villainous matron Evelyn Harper in Caged

My choice for most evil movie villain is always the same and I'll be entering
it on the website when I get the email on Sunday.
There is nothing more evil than a supposed man of God who really isn't!!
Therefore, due to the character himself and the brilliant actor who creates
him, the Most Evil
