I just found out our 20-something client named his dog Myrna Loy. I'm hopeful.

I laughed at this but it is so sad that the gal was obviously very
unsophisticated.
I was dating a gal a little while back, and when we broke up one thing she
said was ".. and youlike those movie I hate where nobody speaks"
heck folks, I'm 52.. and she was 2 years older !!

You know what,
My boy who is now 7 needed an early morning feed at around 10 months, I got
up this Sunday and I had just got Lawrence of Arabia on DVD, we sat down to
watch that, OK he didn't watch the movie I did but he listened and even now
that music does for him.
Now at 7 he is a litt
s of Glory
or even The Last Picture Show, come to that.
And it doesn't have anything to do with them only liking color movies. It's
about taste. They just don't have any.

Sue, I totally agree! I started my

One big part of the problem... You can't get kids to watch black and white
mov
s or Led Zepplin or Buddy Holly or Frank Sinatra, Ella, Doris Day, art
museums, cultural events, whatever. Look at the gifts you are giving. Knowledge
is power and with the way this world is going, every little bit helps.

This is such a refreshing topic.
As Sue just said you have to start em young.
My kids have been brought up on Laurel and Hardy, my eldest at 16 still
laughs at the last brick gag. My middle one will watch anything as long as it's
quality and she sees the detail of a good film noir and love
love
of reading, it has to come from you and the earlier you start it, and the more
exposure you offer, the better. They are little sponges, really!!

Will Film stars of the 3
What about 100 or 500 or 1000 years from now? I'm sure virtually ALL of them
will be forgotten.
Some that will probably still be known are the ones DEEPLY imbedded in pop
culture like Chaplin, Mickey Mouse, Karloff, Lugosi, Judy Garland as Dorothy,
Professor Powersetc.
n a film class... So it adds
up to the fact that they'll never know about these stars. That's just really
sad.

Film stars of the 30s be forgotten?
Twenty years ago, there was a joke circulating.
A baby boomer observed two teenagers in a record store looking at some
"Beatles" record albums. One turned to the other and said, "I didn't know Paul
McCartney was in a band before "
