citing a range of sources, especially the NRP
Plus, there are so many connections, so many similarities between cultures.

This reply is quite late, but thank you Keith for sharing. I don't have
access to a PDA or laptop at work but I may be able to adapt some of these
ideas to a paper and pencil format.
How does everyone else collect data?

I just got my copy yesterday. After all the wonderful reviews of Elaine´s book
I decided to go ahead and order my own copy. Can´t wait to read it. And,
while most of it may not be new having it all in one place is a real asset.

was awake at 5 a.m. And couldn't put it down. Oh my gosh Elaine - what a
great gift to teachers and coaches and all of us in the literacy community.
It's not that I didn't know the information and practices you presented.

I agree, if you are talking about your average students. But my experience
comes out closer to Kim's. What I have observed, is some kids (especialy those
who learn differently) don't understand that they can do things to help
themselves, like reading the questions first so they know the
