Have you looked at Readworks.org? It is a free online source with reading
passages that cover a variety of skills starting at the K level up to the 6th
grade. It has both fiction and non-fiction passages that are tied to Common Core
standards. The site is great, it offers lesson plans and even
Wilson controlled and possibly the non- controlled decodable texts.
Wilsonlanguage.com
With a subscription, you can get access to the passages.

You could use poetry. Lots of comprehension possibilities there and you
could read it together in class but they could take it home and practice and
do some interactions with the text. Short and reasonable lengths for
copying I work with struggling 5th/6th graders and they also love poems
This site has resources to support reading comprehension
http://www.readworks.org/ and this site has a broad list of graphic
organizers to use http://www.adlit.org/strategy_library/.
