I teach the fifth grade in NYC and I am taking a workshop called Smartboard
Training and Curriculum Writing. I decided to use the smartboard for review
for the Statewide SS Exam. I am putting questions on powerpoint and making
it interactive. If a student gets the question wrong, it goes to a screen
that tells them why it is wrong. If they get it right, it goes to a screen
that tells them that it is correct. Coworkers of mine are using it for
reading. They scanned a book onto the smartboard software and they block
out words and have the student figure out from the context clues what words
belong in the box. They also use it for Venn Diagrams after reading two
stories. I think using the smartboard is excellent. The problem is that it
is not always set up and ready to go whenever you want.
