With my students, as far as retelling, I do a lot of asking, and then what

I kind of do both. I have 2 rounds where the students get to choose. I have one
round where everybody is reading to self. Our school requires a 15 minute DEAR
time (drop everything and read) where the teachers have to read as well. I
added

My county does not use DRA, but do TRC and we've been going to the HIGHEST
instructional level, so that we can find out the highest level for the child to
receive instruction. We've just changed to the lowest instructional level, and
