Lori,
I went to Jan Bone for the answer to your question about a book for
your son. She uses the same book my son used for college. Jan
recommended this on line resource several years ago and I love it.
Jan said to tell everyone hello.

My son's high school requires a grammar class that revolves around the nit
picky. The book is heavy on exercises but sadly lacking in instruction. We
are in need of a good guide, with examples. Suggestions? (Please, I know this
is not necessarily good instruction, but he is stuck with it).
I would love to have the grammar scope that your district has developed.
Thanks for your help!

within the workshop model mini grammar lessons can be taught to whole group or
small groups of students with similar need. I have found the Stack the Deck

Hello All,
The assistant superintendent in my district has asked me to post a message
regarding grammar instruction. What are teachers using K-8? How is grammar
taught and what results have you seen? Any and all information would be much
appreciated.
Thank you,

Check out the books from Scholastic, Mastering the Mechanics. These are a
fantastic resource and require such a small initial investment. However,
teachers do need trained in how to use it.
