I've always valued Nancy Atwell's work as a middle school teacher using
workshop approaches!

You may want to try Kelly Gallagher's books. Although he isn't stressing a
traditional " workshop approach" his ideas for older readers are excellent.
I have also found Cris Tovani to be a great resource for upper grades.
