We are moving to readers workshop and dropping series except as a common
resource. No series that currently exists truly captures the rigor and essence
of CCSS...IMHO

We have had Houghton Mifflin for about the last 6 years. I like it a lot. I
have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th using these books and resources. The Practice
book is great and the spelling words are grade level appropriate. I like the
stories and how they intermingle the Social Studies for each grade
.

I'm another Californian with a long history with HM reading. Years ago it was
suddenly imposed and we were to teach with fidelity. I was teaching 3rd grade
at the time and did everything in the program except the writing (because we
were told we didn't have to do the writing). Boy, was that

Our district(also California) did something different this year when it was
time to get a new series. We kept the HM reading series, but HM added some
new vocabulary and writing components. We also got (I'm in 2nd) some
phonics/word building stuff, some centers, some new assessments. At least
We have begun looking into adopting a new reading series. What reading
series do you use? And, do you like it or not and why? Anything you could
tell me would be helpful because we're not even sure where to start.
