I always introduce context clues with Baloney (Henry P.). I am sure I got the
idea from this listserve.

The Series of Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket are full of both
right there and inferential context clues. I lift out whole paragraphs to
use in mini-lessons on context clues.

Take a big book (or any favorite book), place a sticky note over the word...and
have them guess the covered word--describe which strategy they used and why.
Let them show you what to do when you get 'stuck' on a 'tricky word'it's that

There's a wonderful book about aliens coming to the earth and describing

Do you know what page DIBELs is discussed in the document?
The Inspector General's Report can be found at this web address. It does
not look good for DIBELS and certain book publishers that claim to be
Scientifically Research Based! Most are peer reviewed only. Also check out
