Hi, the hierarchical models are based on: A hierarchical phrase-based model for statistical machine translation. 2005. In *Proc. ACL*, pages 263–270. and the syntax approach is similar to Michel Galley http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/%7Egalley, Mark
