A Great Gray Owl has been in my backyard all afternoon today. It appears
in rather bad shape--its eyes look small and its feathers seem out of sorts
on one shoulder, but it's flying fine. When it perched in a nearby tree, I
couldn't help myself--I ran in and defrosted one of the frozen mice I

John Ellis and I birded Black Dog and the Bloomington areas of the Minnesota
Valley NWR this morning, with some success. We totalled 33 species in a few
hours of birding.
Black Dog Lake:
1st-year Glaucous Gull at the west end of Black Dog Lake
2 American White Pelicans.
Just saw a Carolina Wren while I was working on the computer. It was
just outside my fence, by the southwest corner of my house[just south of the
house]. I live at 4600 Meadow Rd., close to 47th and France.
I lost sight the wren when I went to get my wife, and have not refound

The irruption of northern owls continues in northeastern Minnesota,
with GREAT GRAY OWLS and NORTHERN HAWK OWLS being fairl
Some more information and details on the Cedar Creek CBC which is centered on
the Cedar Creek Natural History Area which is
located approximately two miles east of Highway 65 and about a mile south of
the Anoka - Isanti border.
