After having rotten timing in the AM, I stopped by after work and found the
Eurasian Wigeon in the exact spot as Jeff Stephenson and Bob Dunlap this
morning. It was about 300 yds. east (downriver) of Verchota Landing,
feeding near 3 or 4 small muddy islands. It was feeding by itself, although

I hate to dampen your enthusiasm for the rally but the chemicals they (DNR)
paln to put into the water systems gives off benzene (it is 2% rotenone and the
rest is solvent
Well, I've gotten good responses so far. Again, this is not meant to be
scientific. It would simply be fun to find Chuck-Will's Widows in
Minnesota, and after several calling birds less than 15 miles from Houston
County last summer, it seems possible that we could find them this Spring.

We have seen a steady stream of Slate-colored Juncos and Am Tree Sparrows
moving through our neighborhood today, despite a stiff northeast breeze.
Also saw 3 Brown Creepers. The first junco turned up March 27, a few more
the past two days. Starlings (BAH!) back from wherever they hide in winter.
