Late last week there was a somewhat ambiguous report of a BLACK-NECKED=20=

Yesterday afternoon a black-crowned night heron was hanging out in the
southeast corner of Como Lake in St. Paul. It has been there for at least a
couple days, according to some folks on the lake path.

This morning a farmer near Long Prairie had two Cattle Egrets on his farm
associating with his cattle. Last year, he had a Cattle Egret on his farm
also about this time of year. His farm is private property, but you should
be able to spot the Egrets from the road.

Let me know if this is too off-topic for the MN list, but I was wondering what
other's thoughts are on the release of this info. What bothers me is how
secret this was kept -- why? Why are there well-made videos available on the
same day of the release? Why wasn't the info release
Questions swim to the surface:
1) How many are left? Is there a large enough population to conserve? (See

The dove has been hanging out below green metal feeder in the neigbors yard
directly east of the garage. You have to by my parked cars in the driveway
or farther back in the yard to see the whole ground below the feeder. The

not Arkansas. The habitat is difficult at best: Swampy, wet, muddy,
filled with snakes and bugs. You route your walk around the through
bayous. If water is high, forget it. You can canoe or kayak, as members
