Just putting in a little birding report for today. We went to Lake Byllesby
this morning in the wind in hopes of having some more good luck, since we saw

We found a Hooded Warbler singing at Murphy-Hanrehan Park Saturday morning
between intersections 13 and 14. It was 50 yards south of intersection 13 and
to
the west.

Today, 7 May, the Minn Birding Weekends group found a good number of
migrants in Jackson Co, especially at Robertson Co Park on Loon Lake.
Most significant among the 13 warbler species at the park was a singing
Blue-winged Warbler. Also of note there was a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

Birded Murphy early this morning and then went to Lake Byllesby and
ended up getting drenched, muddy (I slid down a hill after slipping) and
not seeing much there (rain was too hard to really see much), however I
did get a few interesting things...

Black-backed on Mille Lacs Lake, at Intersection of HWY 169 and Mille

I forgot to include 2 Soras (1 observed, 1 heard) in the sightings for
Morgan Park yesterday. Debbie Waters spotted the first one and we got a
quick look at it, and another called soon after from another part of the
marsh. Both were in the marshy area where Stewart Creek goes under the RR
tracks
I stopped at the bird store this morning to pick up a few things to take
the Arboretum's Wild About Birds event and as I'm typing this we have
orioles at the feeder and the ground below has four Harris Sparrows, a
savannah sparrow and a Linconln's sparrow. Can't wait to see what's at
the Arboretum

Checked out 140th St. & Lake Bylessby. Both look promising for shorebirds. At
Lake Bylessby I found 13 species of
shorebirds. Counted 65-100 Semi-palmated Plovers. Number 41 was a Piping
Plover with a complete necklace as described from
