Yesterday I found about 200 red phalaropes on the sewage ponds just southeast of the town of Heron Lake. The only other shorebirds present were a 20 or so killdeer. There were 40-50 Franklin's gulls and a smattering of mallards and wood ducks. John Schladweiler MN Dept. of Natural Resources
