Greetings from Snowy NE Aitkin County!
Having read, and agreed, with the Martin's post, I thought I better post an
update on the birds in Aitkin County.
On January 1st, Cindy, Warren Nelson and I made a circuit through northern
Aitkin County starting along CR 1, going north to CR 3, west five

The Hedbom Forest Road is now plowed and easily passable, at least

A birder near Marquette Michigan was hosting a Green Tailed Towhee from
mid-October until just recently. I don't know if it's still visiting his yard,
but wonder if it's possible this is the same bird heading home? Wish I could
make the trip to see it.

Just for the record, I have driven the Hedbom road recently, and was
not disappointed at all. I had a great time. I am looking forward to
other visits.

Hello:
Yesterday was the first time I had to check this area, and I must say I
was disappointed. Given the number of postings about this road
recently, birders might be under the impression that this area is
something special

I neglected to post WHEN we saw the Townsend's Solitaire at Afton
S.P. It was between 12:00 and 12:30. It was bright sun and the bird
was singing continuously. Susan took a couple of photos on her pocket
digital camera.

I've visited the road myself--didn't post as my trip wasn't nearly as
successful as others...one Black-backed and a few WW Crossbills--I think

the habitat or the bird selection. Bogs similar to the bog on Hedbom with
