Tonight at 7:30 there were 89 Common Loons on Staring Lake, Eden
Prairie, as well as 6 Horned Grebes and 2 Red-necked Grebes. Also 1
speedboat pulling a water skier!
The Horned Grebe flock at the Purgatory Creek wetlands was up to 39
birds.
At Diamond Lake, Minneapolis there were 26 Common Loons (

There are 24 White Pelicans on Silver Lake in Virginia. A friend called me
about 3, I don't know when they arrived. They were still there at 4:30.
Also at least 7 Loons. And 2 Ospreys flying around. And my FOY Red-Winged
Blackbird.
Yesterday I saw one Osprey, and my FOY Tree Swallows.

Item 1: Four Grebes on a pond near Beauford. Which Grebes? Since it it
was so dark this morning color was not a factor, however, they
definitly were not Western Grebes. Size makes me lean to Red-Neck,how
likely is that? The thing that caught my eye was the very prominent
"ears" and straight
I did some birding in eastern Sibley County this morning and observed
the following:
-Winter Wren at Rush River County Park southwest of Henderson, also
many Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers here
-at least 30 Common Loons and around 20 or so Horned Grebes on Silver Lake
-Greater Yellowlegs at Washing

This morning at 8:45 am at the Purgatory Wetlands in Eden Prairie, Hennepin
County there were "32" Horned Grebes, 3 Forster's Terns, Barn Swallows and a
mix of ducks. I did not view from the blind but from behind the Lifetime
Fitness Health Club off of Prairie Center Drive.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I went out to Hyland Park to see if the loons were
still there. They were, but because the ice had melted so much they were
widely dispersed on the lake and I didn't take any photos of them. While I
was sitting on shore, a horned grebe popped up right in front of me.
