Bart Anderson saw a Townsend's Solitaire on the 27th at Good Harbor
Bay, four miles southwest of Grand Marais. Bart also reported a
Smith's Longspur on the 26th at the Lutsen sewage ponds, and a male
Harlequin Duck at Agate Bay in Two Harbors on the 24th.

My wife and I saw the following near Grand Marais today.
On Cook CR 7 - A juvenile Rough-legged Hawk
On Cook CR 45 - Another Rough-legged Hawk and 3 Evening Grosbeaks
On Forest Road 158 - 2 female Pine Grosbeaks and a flock of 8 Snow Buntings

Don Kienholz just called to report that city workers found a dead
Snowy Owl yesterday, Oct 27, near the corner of Garfield Ave &
Railroad St in the Duluth harbor area. Don had a chance to look at the
owl today and saw no obvious injuries, indicating that it may have
died of starvation. This

The bird I saw yesterday and sent pics to those who requested did
indeed turn out to be a female Purple Finch. Another thriller for my
office window list.
