Yesterday in the mid to late morning, the northwest end of Lake Byllesby was
filled with many duck species Hundreds
Ran into a Ring-necked Pheasant today on my walk along the east side
of Eagle Lake in Maple Grove. Red Polls still plentiful though highly
reduced numbers. Nothing out of the ordinary save the first of the
year pheasant. No owls spotted yet either. Willows just starting to
tint a bit o'

the trail head of the Meeker County park on State Hwy 15, between
Dassel and Kingston.

Well since I now have no job to go to, I spent a few hours in my driveway in
the sun watching the sky for migration..
>From 12:30 to 16:00 I spotted:
4 Adult Bald Eagles
6 Immature Bald Eagles
1 Ghost (Adult Male Northern Harrier)
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk
1 Adult Red-tailed Hawk

The Ross's geese were not present this morning at 10am
However, there is a decent mix of ducks there and at the marsh just
east of the intersection of Goodwin and Northfield Blvd (hwy 47)
Also, nice mix of waterfowl at Wells Lake in Rice Co:
Canvasback, Redhead, Scaup, RN Duck, Bufflehea

Today there were over 100 eagles in the trees on the ice etc. in a
very concentrated area. This would be a great opportunity for
photographers. Folks say they have been there most of the week. So
no guarantees but if you want to try to find it, take WI Hwy 35 to

A Golden Eagle has been sighted along the Root River at Eagle Bluff ELC in

Jim Otto just called to report that he is currently viewing 10 Ross's Geese at
the 145th Street location reported yesterday by Jim Mattson.
Directions - exit US Hwy 52 at the County 42 exit - this is 145th Street. Turn
east and go past the golf course, the flooded fields will be obvious on the
Erika Sitz reports that she has had a report from a home owner that Sand Hill
Cranes arrived on Monday night to a marsh in Ramsay (Anoka County) near Ramsay
Blvd and Alpine, where they have been residents in previously.

I observed on tuesday a rare adult Red-tailed Hawk perched on a light poll at
the 77th Street exit of Hwy 100 in Edina. The bird was completely brown/black.
When it flew it revealed a dark red tail.
