This is an opportunity for birders to spread the word about MOU publications,
programs and web-site at the Urban Birding Festival Information Fair. The
information fair will be held at Spring Brook Nature Center on Saturday, May
15 from 9:00-3:00. We would set up two shifts for two volunteers
There were many more ducks along 150th St. this morning vs. yesterday,
mainly more Canvasback, Redhead, and Lesser Scaup. The Greater
White-fronted Geese were still there as well. At Carver Park, 2
Eastern Meadowlarks were back singing from their usual spots.A

Saturday 3/27, 11am, I found 1 Loon, 3 male Red-breasted Mergansers on Como
Lake, which is almost ice-free. Mallards, Canadas, Red-wing blackbirds
abundant. Came home ( 2 blocks from lake) to find a tom turkey at my feeder.

Just returned from 150th St location in Carver county. As was just posted many
waterfowl are still there. Also saw Horned Lark, American Kestrel, Killdeer
and heard song sparrow and pheasant.

I had my First of the Year (FOY) Swamp Sparrow at one of the ponds off of
Laurel Avenue in Golden Valley this afternoon. Surprisingly, there were no
other sparrows except for a few juncos. And apparently another Swamp Sparrow
was seen elsewhere in Hennepin County today as well.
I've been checking
Today, while at Lake Byllesby a small group of us, Laura Coble, Melissa Poulus
, Dave Harbot and myself, observed 12 Greater White-fronted Geese land on the
lake. Ducks present were Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, Ring-necked, Greater
Scaup, Bufflehead and Northern Shoveler. Also, FOY Song
Bluebirds have arrived in Hastings J

The female Barrow's Goldeneye first found by Karl Bardon 3/23 was refound this
morning (3/27) at the Duluth Rowing Club on Park Point.

hi alyssa-are you referring to the ponds off of laurel and louisiana? I'll
have to head back there again-I live just a few blocks from there. I started
going there last year because of all the egrets that end up there at
nighttime-took some night photos with 33 egrets sleeping in the

Nice concentrations of divers were present this morning at Lake Byllesby and
Spring Lake RP. At Byllesby, I counted 1,500 divers, mostly Lesser Scaup, but
also Canvasback, Redhead, all three mergansers, Ruddy, Bufflehead, Ring-necked.
Spring Lake had all the same species and similar
