There was a male Lark Bunting present Friday and yesterday about a mile
(rough guess) east of the refuge headquarters along the main road through
the refuge.

Erika and I heard a Carolina Wren at the UM Landscape Arboretum in Carver
Co. It sang loudly at the southeast corner of the Green Heron Trail near a
pond to the southeast of the trail. To get there, walk along the trail past
where the now closed Bog Trail intersects. Keep walking maybe
Thanks for the replies, it seems clear now that the fledglings left
the nest box prematurely. They were just 13 days old and clearly
unable to fly. The one we found alive and placed back in the box got
out an hour or so later and we did not find it again. I had considered

On a quick visit to Perch lake WPA this morning I found two Blue
Morph Snow Geese on the pond east side of 597 Lane in Perch Lake South
WPA.
Also a male Gadwall -no hen, hopefully nesting.
Did not find the two Trumpeters or the Sandhill Crane which I observed
last Sunday.

Olive-sided Flycatcher (front, very vocal, although "quick" portion of song is
infrequent; here 1.5 weeks), Cerulean Warbler (has been heard & seen on both
left and right forks, 5-10 minutes walk in, alternate song), Least Bittern
(back portion of trail, near lake) on Blue Hill Trail, Sherburne
Carolina Wren at Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington (6 a.m.
Sunday). The bird was singing loudly from trees on the west side of
the Visitor Center parking lot. Thereafter it flew east over the
center to the edge of Hyland Lake.
