We have at least 2 Red-breasted Nuthatch's that have arrived in our yard
today at Dassel in Meeker Cty. It's nice to see them back here. We still have
the RC Kinglets and RE Vireo's here. The Hummingbirds are having a feast at our
feeders yet and keep trying to protect each one.

Ta Da!...juvenile Red Knot.
OK, most responses I received correctly ID'd it as a Red Knot. Several as a
juvenile. But, as expected several were just plain stumped. In Minnesota, this
is a bird and an age/plumage we just don't often get to see away from Lake
Superior. I've birded for some
Vic Lewis and I birded this morning for a couple of hours at Sucker Lake north
of St. Paul and at the exposed shore on the north side of White Bear Lake.
We had 53 species total including 9 warblers: lots of Tennessee and Nashville
warblers plus chestnut-sided, black-and-white, bay-breasted,

Warbler numbers have been much less the past couple of days along Minnehaha
Creek. Although this morning still yielded 12 species over less than an hour.
This morning I saw a one-eyed ovenbird: it had an eye injury (blind) on the
right side. This in itself isn't that interesting, except that I
