Townsend's Solitaire back in its usual place: Ann Lake, just south of
Sherburne Refuge, one mile east of Sherburne CR 5, road opposite CR 4
western turnoff. It was calling just off the parking lot on the right hand
side, then flew into the bare trees about 150 yards west of the right hand

Went to Fishtrap Lake (north of Cushing) to relocate Pacific Loon and had no
success. Saw some crabapples at 2439 cty rd 3 on the North end of lake and
found a Townsend Solitaire and a Summer Tanager (may be the bird Dennis
Martin reported a few days ago but now at a different site). Also,
Winter months are a great time for me for a number of reasons:
Project Feederwatch begins in a week affording commmunication with
dozens of folks from around the country comparing results.
Always the chance of a surprise visitor at the feeders.
Will the Pine Siskins and or Red Polls appear in
On Blue Earth County 10 just west of Alma City at 11 am this morning a
flock of a dozen or so Snow Buntings flushed from the roadside.
This afternoon Dwayne Smothers (brother-in-law) reported a much larger
flock on the north side of Lura Lake along Inshore Drive.
