We were out in the Tower yesterday, 3/1/2011, and ended up with 23
species. The Harris's Sparrow is still hanging around.

Ring-necked Pheasant,
American Goldfinch,
Pileated
On Sunday I checked into the Inn at Gitche Gumee and went for a short run along
the North Shore scenic drive, where I spotted 3 Red-breasted Mergansers and 7
Common Goldeneyes.
Monday I drove up Lake Co. Rd 2 at dawn, where I ran into Mike Hendrickson and
a visiting birder, along with the 11
Barrow's Goldeneye was not refound early this morning in Monticello;
however, cold time constraints limited viewing to 25 minutes.
Plenty of active goldeneyes in the area, wish I'd had more time and 40 more
degrees!

Our office had a call this morning from a Minneapolis resident who found
a bird leg with a few feathers attached and a band that is not a
standard USFWS tarsus band. Perhaps it belonged to a racing pigeon or
otherwise domestic bird. If anyone out there has a suggestion of a
website where one

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have another observation. I
also study the 8-10 blue jays that visit my feeders every morning. I
also have a routine...every morning I put a cornucopia of peanuts
(shelled and in-the-shell), seeds, etc. on a feeding tray. Almost
