compare contrast with internals.
On surface
Last weeks rain really helped provide shorebird habitat with several fields
with flooded sections(not good news for farmers). Fields were significantly
drier today vs. Tuesday, so unless we get more rain, shorebirds will likely be
harder to come by.Like last summer, Chaska Lake and
Hi Bob,
I found few ducklings in surveying for the atlas out in Lac qui Parle,
Yellow Medicine, and Lincoln along the Dakota border. I also had an
unsolicited comment that ducklings were scarce from a farmer/birder from
that area, who said he had heard that from others. Canada Geese
Pelican numbers have really been increasing, today there were 30 to 40 in
several areas on the west (smaller) lake. There have been a lot of wood
ducks on both lakes and the usual numbers of great blue herons, egrets, and
cormorants. There don't seem to be as many mallards as other years and the
