horned grebe. I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I'll send this as a

The Faribault/Northfield CBC is set for Saturday December 17th. After doing a
wonderful job compiling for us for many years, Gene Bauer has decided to hang
it up, and Jake Langeslang has graciously chosen to take over the job! I'm just
putting in a plug for Jake and the count and
I have been seeing Cardinals here for close to 55 years but it is still a
neat bird to see on this Northern area.

Hi everyone,
I have been frequenting Cannon Lake more this fall/winter hoping for a scoter
or long-tailed duck with no success, but I have been enjoying the lingering
waterfowl that has been present. Tonight there was a pretty good mix of birds,
most notably, 5 Horned Grebes and 2 Common Loons
I decided to spend most of the day walking the entire length of the dike at
Reno today (ending at the lock and dam at Genoa, WI). My start was delayed
somewhat by the Snowy Owl in Winona this morning, but I was able to walk out
and back in about 6 hours including birding. I think this is betwe
Mary and I couldn't locate the long-tailed duck this afternoon. But at 2:30 we
found 4 western grebes around the southwestern corner of Lake Calhoun.

At 4:30 this afternoon the Snowy Owl which had been perched along the
Mississippi River in Winona at Bay State Milling had relocated across the
channel to a small island adjacent to Latsch Island, and was perched near the
top of a tree on eastern edge of the island. According to my map, this is

State grain elevator, and flushed an imm/female Snowy Owl this morning. I just
got back from confirming, and it is still there. Drive to the end of Kansas
