Hi John,
A friend who is a Field Biologist was recently on a work-related
trip from Saskatoon to the Swift
We are doing the Project FeederWatch with Cornell this winter, and of
course as it starts all of the birds seem to just know to disappear. But
last night around 11:00 PM we had an amazing, although non-bird, surprise
at our feeder. We discovered that a Flying Squirrel has found our feeder
and
Long-tailed Duck (1): ad winter female with raft of goldeneyes, mergansers,
bufflehead, and ruddy ducks seen on Lake Waconia from pullout on north side of
lake on North Shore Rd, just east of intersection with Brekke Blvd. Scope
necessary.
Also saw several flocks of Lapland Longspurs on road
I placed a story in local newspapers last week asking readers to report
sightings of Snowy Owls in the Red River Valley. Here's an update:
At 9am today, Van Hapka reported a female Snowy Owl on 190th Street NW in
Warren - 2.5 miles west of the Audubon Center. I photographed that
bird... and on
Just heard a 2nd-hand account of a Snowy Owl sighting in Duluth at 4:15pm
today (Sunday, Dec. 4th), next to the Decc on one of the I-35 road signs.

This evening at 4:27pm a SNOWY OWL flew over Cass County Road 24 2.5 miles
east of MN Hwy 64. I watched it fly south through a field then over the
tree line where it disappeared.

have several feeders suspended from the soffit about 18 away from 2nd story
windows. The little squirrel used to climb up the canes of a tall and very
overgrown bush, and leap a couple of feet to the feeders to gorge
A Snowy Owl flew over 100th St. .8 mile West of Neal Av. in southern Washington
County at 4:25 this afternoon. It landed in the field South of the road, about
50-75 yards from the road. I was able to observe the bird during the next 15
minutes as it looked around. Of course I have no way of
