birding programs for adults, teens and families at the historic Audubon Camp

I started the day looking for the Long-tailed Duck at Point Douglas Beach off
Hwy 10 before the bridge to Prescott, WI. Ran into a birder named Kevin Smith
who showed me the bird out among a flock of Common Mergansers. It is a very
nice looking adult female bird that can be seen with binoculars
The Iceland, Ring-billed and Franklin’s gulls were visible from the observation
deck at the Old Cedar Ave bridge a 3:00 this afternoon.

Saturday at about 3PM, there was a first winter Thayer's gull at the western
flowage off Black Dog Road. Saturday and Sunday there was a first winter
Glaucous Gull visible from the boardwalk platform west of the Old Cedar Ave
Bridge at about 1245PM. At about 2 PM the first winter Iceland Gull
I should add that I've never left my car when checking the fields from the
UPS or FedEx lots, though I have parked briefly in the corner behind the
de-icing facility---that was the one time Security came to chat with me, a
few years ago.

The World's Coldest Birdathon, the BDathon did not live up to its name with
temps in the 30s.
But, all had a great time!
An amazing 73 species were found by 19 folks in 7 teams.
