Greetings All:
Sorry for the belated posting. Herb Dingmann found two first county records
yesterday, a Say's Phoebe near Preston and a White-winged Dove in Lewiston.
The Say's Phoebe was found around 12:15 pm at the pond 2.5 miles south and 1
mile east of Preston in Fillmore

Andy Nyhus reported that the White-winged Dove was refound this morning in
Lewiston around 7am at the intersection of Williams and Wilson Streets. I
neglected to mention in my previous post that Lewiston is in Winona County.

Just saw an Eastern Towhee in my neighbor's shrubs. This two days after seeing
a Spotted Towhee in our Juneberry tree! What's next? Maybe a green-tailed by
Tuesday?

Hi All--
I have posted a photo on my blog (
http://dantallmansbirdblog.blogspot.com/) of one of two Cattle Egrets
that Erika and I found on Saturday noon west
of Faribault in Rice County. These are the same birds found by many
observers (and originally by Dave Bartkey) during the past week.

I just got a call from Ron Erpelding that he and Herb Dingmann refound the
Say's Phoebe at the previously reported pond just south of Preston, MN.

...was not overly exciting. Both meadowlarks and Versper and Savannah Sparrow
at Randolph Indust. Park plus N Harrier and Kestrel s. of 280th st. on the way
back.
Lake Bylesby had a few White Pelicans, lots of mud flats but only Killdeeer and
both Yellowletgs were seen plus a single Blue
Yesterday, Saturday, I had about a half dozen Evening Grosbeaks visit my

Species were pretty much what one would expect across Carver County this
morning. There were good numbers of Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Yellow-rumped
Warbler, and White-throated Sparrow at Rapids Lake MVNWR. Yellow-rumped were
also seen at Rice Lake, Maria Lake, and Lake Waconia. Yellow-bellied
On Fri, Sat, and Sun mornings, I volunteered on a Spruce Grouse survey
based out of Norris Camp in Lake of the Woods County. Unfortunately, the
areas I surveyed resulted in no detection, but I did manage to find a
Spruce Grouse on Thursday evening before starting the surveys and because
