I found a snowy owl this morning on the north end of Hamden Slough NWR. The
bird was sitting on the top of a power line pole along Co. Hwy 13 about 2.3
miles south of Co. Hwy 14.

The Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive is open daylight hours, and will remain open
until we get our first snowfall, or December 31 - whichever comes first.
Headquarters/Office will be closed both Thanksgiving Day and Friday - the day
after. Hiking Trails and the wildlife drive are open.
Bohemian Waxwing, Cackling Goose on Milaca Hiking Trails today.
Cackler was amidst dozens of Canadas on the second sewage pond; Bohemian was in
the woods trail next to the Rum River, over top of brown Back to Rec Park
sign, about 40 minutes walk in from parking lot.

Until such a stamp is available, I suggest that wildlife lovers of all
stripes buy a duck stamp. It serves the same purpose as development and
conservation of water fowl habitat is also habitat many other species of
wildlife.

I saw an unusual visitor at my peanutbutter suet block this afternoon. It
was small but totally unafraid of the hairy woodpecker hanging on a branch 6
inches away who wanted to get on the suet block. I think it was a warbler
because
1. Yellowish underside
2. Size
3. Beak and
Not a Minnesota bird but an FYI for anyone heading west or going skiing. Drat
– we are not skiing this year!
