Dear MN birders,
I spent an hour this morning discovering how frustrating Henslow's Sparrows
are! There were at least 5 singing south of 30-31. I finally got a look at one
bird, otherwise they were very good at skulking!
I walked the forest trails yesterday (bad weather) and this morning and

While leading a group on the main trail, from the Cliff Fen Park Trailhead. We
were able to observe the following species.
Wild Turkey
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Cooper's Hawk
Peregrine
Saturday, June 1, I refound the Bell's Vireo 1st post on this list serve. It
was singing constantly from a group of shrubs right next to the hiking/biking
trail in Shafer. To reach the trail, go to Shafer on Hwy 8 and turn north on
County 21. Stay on that street until you find the Trail
Jim Lind (who is not near a computer) just asked me to post that a birder
friend of his saw the flycatcher this morning at Naniboujou Lodge, 15 mi E of

Today I saw a singing Lark Sparrow presumably on territory. I marked the
exact spot with a yellow “thumbtack” on my eBird list:

interested in birds, you're invited. You can meet other birders-maybe find a
carpool buddy, ask about where to find target birds,
I unsuccessfully looked for the Brown Pelican at Myre Big Island State Park
in Freeborn County this afternoon but did find several Franklin's Gulls on
the south side of the lake along lake shore drive near the public boat
access.
