Currently two Snowy Owls perched on utility poles along county 5 north of the
railroad crossing. This is north of US 12. Unfortunately no shoulder here.

Snowy owl currently in field on 50th...seems to have just caught dinner. Take
12 west out of
howard lake, go north on cty rd 5. Make 1st left after tracks (50th) bird on
right just after
farmstead.

Yesterday Ron Erpelding and I made to trip to western Minnesota to see if we
could find more Snowy Owls. We were fairly successful, finding a Snowy Owl
in each of 4 different counties:
Douglas County: 4 miles north of Osakis on CR3 (there had been a previously
reported bird 6 miles north of

This evening at dusk I found a Snowy Owl NE of Vermilion while
participating in the Hastings CBC. The almost pure white owl was sitting
on an irrigation truss.Directions to where it was observed: from 190th
Street, go north on Hogan Avenue past the grain elevators and look east.
It was on
Occasionally , one Snowy Owl is seen near Royalton (by the Royal Farm site). A
few Snow
Buntings are flying through and flocks of Tree Sparrows. Things are still quiet
on a whole. I
