Late yesterday we found a pair Snowy owls at the previously reported location
(County 6 and 30th St. SW) both on poles along 30th. One is much paler, very
subtle bars.

Found Dec 31st at around 3pm hunting along east side of Highway 2, approx 1.3
miles south of junction with Highway 11.

I observed 3 Snowy Owls in western Polk County this morning. One was on 380th
Ave SW, roughly 1.25-1.5 miles south of Polk County 21 (48.0003, -96.8694), a
second, also reported yesterday by Heidi Hughes, on Polk County 20, roughly
1.25-1.5 miles south of Polk County 21 (47.9892, -96.7840), and

A nice beginning for a New Year's Day
We caught a fleeting glimpse of a Northern Shrike about 8:00 a.m. today; it
perched for a minute or so outside our bedroom window! Just as we got enough of
a look to determine it was not one of our usual feeder birds, it flew... all

Snowy owl viewing
Mature bird is perched on small remote out building 300 yards on north side of
170st around 1/4 east of 52. After 15 minutes of viewing via scope on tripod we
returned to the car car to get warm and mount window glass scope mount the bird
took off and landed in power pole
Around 4:30 this afternoon I spotted a mature male Snowy Owl which flew up
from the top of a telephone pole as I approached. It then flew south out of
seeing range. This was at the intersection of 205th Ave. and 430th Street just
west of Holdingford in Stearns County. A Snowy had been reported
Saw a large female snowy owl today at 3:00 PM about a mile NW of the Treasure
Island casino on Hwy 18. It was on top of a power pole right next to the road.
Watched and photographed it for 45 min. Many cars passed us but no one stopped.

I spotted one more Snowy Owl (in addition to the three reported by Sandy
Aubol today) - on Polk County 20 north of Polk Co 23 - sitting on top of a
grain bin.

Today My daughter and I went in search of the Snowy that has been spotted
in Maple Grove. At about 2:00pm we saw it sitting on a light post right
off Hemlock Lane just north of Elm Creek Blvd., about a block away from
Benihana. It then flew over across the highway from Costco. Then it flew
A Snowy Owl is being seen east of Stewartville in Fillmore county.
The owl has been seen in the area about 1 mile SW of the intersection of
Highway 30 and County 1, which is about 4 miles east of Stewartville.

Minnesota has now 92 reported Snowy Owls in the state.
