After having bad luck in the St Cloud previously it is so nice to have birds

Good morning to all,
I talked to the person that saw the Snowy Owl in Fillmore county, and it
was last week when he saw it. When he has seen it has been at a very close
range. One of the times the bird was on the shoulder of the road as he drove
by (it does not sound like it flew that time). A
Alexander Nemmers, a UMC student reported a lone Snowy Owl perched in a
tree south of Beltrami along highway 9, right at the border of Polk and

Randy,
Very interesting. I am new to birding and would like to add a Snowy to my list
this year. I am by Forest Lake and I noticed on the map that their are no
sightings anywhere in this area (st paul and north and east). Are their birders
actively looking there? Seems odd to have none and
We want to thank all of you who gave us some advice, not too long ago,
regarding where to go in Arizona to photograph hummingbirds. We listened
to your advice and made all necessary arrangements to make the most of our
trip. We thought some of you might want to see the photographic results of

In spite of the miserable weather our regular feeder visitors seem to be doing
well.
Unusual visitors for our location and season:
For the past several weeks
4 American Tree Sparrows
a lone White-throated Sparrow
4-6 Mourning Doves
a single female Yellow-shafted Flicker
Also 12 Robins dropped by
Brown creeper this morning, 36TH St and West River Road in South Minneapolis.
I often see creepers in my bur oak, hackberries and in the neighborhood but
they never have come to my suet logs. I use a home made suet made from peanut
butter, non-hydrogenated margarine, bird seed, WW flour, cornme
Around 100 perched in a tree just west of Chandler Rd and N 5th Ave E in Ely.
Fun to finally see this flock. Thanks to the Steves (Lampman and Schoen) for
help tracking them down.
Cheers

If you would like to reminisce to a time when it was warm and other
birds inhabited the frozen tundra named "Minnesota", here's a short
video showing the diversity of bugs that a pair of House Wrens brought
to their nesting box last summer:

Hello,
After mapping out Bruce Fall's Snowy Owl locations in Dakota County along
with Steve Weston's, Drew Smith's and Blaine Seelinger locations there are
no fewer than 10 Snowy Owls in Dakota County. I suspect there will be more
owls moving into Dakota County. Birders should consider checking

By reading all the reports, one could surmise snowy owls can be found
throughout the state but there is a significant line of east west demarcation.
Eight of the best birders in Kandiyohi county have logged in at least 34 hours
of owling the past 6 days, concentrating on cloudy, windless days a
Yesterday afternoon, Randy Frederickson relocated a Snowy Owl by Grove City.
It was seen on 300th St. 0.25 miles west of MN 4. This is north of Grove City.
After seeing my pictures of the Grove City and Litchfield owls, Randy believes
it
looked more like the Litchfield bird.
