Neighbors in NW Mower County report that a male red headed woodpecker arrived
early this week and has stayed around their feeders since. They had a nesting
pair at their place last summer.
I would also like to share the following signs of spring: regular sightings of
eagles flying up and
A snowy owl is perched on a pole at the corner of 205th Ave and 105th St.
This is about 2.5 miles south of HWY
30 and SE of the previous sightings.

I saw both Snowy Owls today in the city of Ramsey.
The west side owl was in one of its usual spots and at approximately 3:30pm
there was one gentleman there taking photos with a nice long lens.
I didn't see anyone else there and didn't notice this gentleman doing any
baiting.

This afternoon, I drove up to Aitkin County Road 18 to check out my
feeding station and make sure it was full. On C.R.18, 1 1/10 miles east
of hwy 169 there were two NORTHERN HAWK OWLS sitting about 40 feet apart
in two birch trees right beside the road. They were steadily making high
pitched

and Kellogg just north of country auto sales on a power line pole.

On my way to work this morning, I was pleased to see nine Gray Partridges at
the intersection of 325th St. and 715th Ave. in Hartland Township. The warm
weather (20 degrees, and that's above zero) must have engaged their need to
frolic.
