This evening I found two tufted titmice at Hidden Valley Park in Savage.
Additionally, there were nesting blue-gray gnatcatchers and indigo
buntings. The titmice were by the archery targets north of the

Today around 3 PM I found two Trumpeter Swans on Crane Lake near Ridgedale, We
live just south of Crane Lake and yesterday Mary Lou heard and saw them flying
overhead. 6 weeks ago they ( or a different pair) were seen at the same place.
There was also a Common Loon and a Great Egret present.

What a beautiful morning it was on the refuge! Mosquitos not horrible,
slight breeze, warm, not humid. I had 73 species - nothing out of the
ordinary, just a wonderful morning to be out.

While walking along the Park Point beach about 200 yards north of the
airport yesterday morning, I saw one Red Knot with in a mixed flock of 5
Ruddy Turnstones, 5 Semipalmated Plovers, several Sanderlings, 20+
Semipalmated Sandpipers, and 1 Dunlin. The birds were very tame, affording
great views fr
