American Woodcock displaying west of HQ area. It was in the road as it began
to rain. It walked toward me and displayed 3 times. So cool. And it is mid
July!
Other birds near HQ were a Great Horned Owl, 2 Sharp-tailed Grouse, male
American Harrier and the other usuals. Big lightening storm end
Thanks to Denny Martin for tips on birding in Roseau county. Note the dike
road from county road 3 is open for a 5 mile stretch of the WMA. Enter near
pond one and drive til the road is closed due to a slump. The dike road will
be open for 24 hours a day through this weekend, then open weekend

I know that the railroads have more power than the gods, but do they have the
right to cut back trees during nesting season? I have migrants living and
nesting in the area.
