There were three Merlins (family group?) zooming about the Dairy Queen on Old
61 in Forest Lake this morning. I saw them first at 0715, then one was heard
at noon. Interesting, a juvenile Cooper's hawk was seen at 0720, perched on a
telephone wire behind the DQ.

Currently looking at 59 Hudsonian Godwits at Sand Lake southwest of Winthrop
university (highway 15 and 310th). Most are pretty drab but still impressive
when they raise there wings . Also two Black-bellied Plovers, one American
Golden Plover and other common species.

they are tiny, beautiful, and amazing….
If you get to the Tucson area, you can see all the SE AZ hummers in the outside
aviary at the Sonora Desert Museum. Second best to finding one on your own in
the desert or the canyons.
