On Wednesday we had 5 Great Egrets on the lake and a couple of Pine Siskins
in the tree top at Quigley Lake.
Friday; The usual flock of ducks, Woodies, Hoodies, Mallards, and honkers
(Canada Geese) are congregating along out shore. Wood Ducks in our trees
make it difficult to approach our back w
Around 6 PM today I had a nice warbler wave in our neighborhood south of 394
and west of County Rd 73.
Along the shore of two small ponds I found
12 Yellow-rumped Warblers
6 Ruby-crowned Kinglets
1 Hermit Thrush
1 Red-shouldered Hawk
2 Red-bellied Woodpecker
2 Downy Wp16 Wood Duck
7 Mallard

The Saffle pond has been reduced to a wetland by the lack of rain, though there
was a bit more water in it this morning, enough to attract a Solitary Sandpiper

Rapids Lake Unit
Trails near the visitor center
While leading a walk at the Rapids Lake unit this morning, we observed some of
the following species:
Osprey
Sandhill Crane
Eastern Phoebe
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Hermit Thrush
Orange-crowne
I just received a call from Al Loken. He reported the following species that
he and Kimberle observed in Lac Qui Parle and Grant counties.

He also noted that there were lots of Ducks and some Horned Grebes at the lake.

We had our foy WC sparrow in the yard now, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher &
Yello-bellied Sapsucker. Have also had 2 Purple Martins a couple of days ago.

Kevin Smith and I just found a Cinnamon Teal among the Blue-winged Teals at
Albany WTP. No signs of being a hybrid. It flew off to one of the back
ponds not visible from the road while we were watching it. Did not see the
Hudsonian Godwit reported earlier.
