There are 3 Red-necked Phalaropes in the NW corner of the north Blomkest
sewage pond. These sewage ponds are on 150th Ave which is north of Blomkest
two miles and about a half mile west of CR 11. No other shorebirds were
present.
The only shorebirds I found at the Lake Lillian sewage ponds were a

I led a local shorebird fieldtrip this morning. We ended up with 60
species total for the trip highlighted by the following shorebirds:
Killdeer
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Solitary Sandpiper
Spotted Sandpiper
Pectoral Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandp
Laura did not see it at all yesterday, but another birder eBirded it at
10:54 AM yesterday: "Observed perched on log near pond edge moving into the
shade of surrounding willows." I don't know of any sightings yet today.

Here is some more information about the closing of the Long Meadow Lake Units,
Old Cedar Avenue Trailhead.
Current plans call for a reopening of the Old Cedar Avenue trailhead on October

I'm planning on trying for the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron this evening. I was

I don’t see waxwings and Bobolinks in the same flocks very often and
certainly never thought they looked similar. But on Wednesday John Holden
and I found just that sort of flock feeding off the perimeter fence of the
Dennison sewage ponds—about a dozen waxwings and at least three Bobolinks.

I am not sure that I would pass the simple tests that the medical triage
people would ask: What year is it? What month is it? The Canon River
Bottom Field Trip will be a week from Sunday - August 23rd, not May 23rd. I
am glad no one is asking me who the President is.
