I just spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Rapids Lake unit of the MRVNWR in Carver county. Along with the usual suspects the highlight of the afternoon was a Northern Harrier that I spotted on the gravel road between the open fields. I watched it until it flew across the field to the northeast.

Last Saturday, 5 March, Erika and I photographed a Black-capped Chickadee drinking maple sap at the UM Landscape Arboretum, Carver Co. The photo is on this morning’s blog. I recently saw a wonderful photo of a chickadee drinking from a sap icicle, clearly before our recent warm spell. FaceBook? On
