A few weeks ago at the Coon Rapids dam I met a woman and we started talking
about birding and the topic of western grebes at Lake Osakis came up in our
conversation. I had never been there but she had so we agreed to take a trip
there primarily to look for Grebes the Grebe I was most

I found a small mix of shorebirds at the flooded field on the MN/IA border just
north or Spirit Lake this AM.
There was one Hudsonian Godwit foraging along the north edge of the flooded
area.
The water has receded just a bit which should help as there are now lots of
areas of shallow water
We just saw 3 white Pelicans flying low over the water near the Lake Superior
shoreline, heading southwest. No chance for a picture.
