6 BALD EAGLES, 3 CROWS and 2 RING-BILLED GULLS were on the rapidly shrinking
ice at
Bolland Slough along Lqp County Road 12, scavenging the winter fish kill. First
COMMON
GRACKLES and BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS of the year along field edges.

Keith Olstad and I birded both ends of Lake Byllesby Tues. the 21st
a.m., both through the fog and after the fog lifted. Apparently so did
the birds; all we could find were a FEW Canada Geese, ring-billed gulls
and common mergansers. We did have one fly
Since we're on the subject of strange weather causing strange things,
last night after the rain ended I went out to check the rain gauge at
10pm. It was 58 degrees and a tree frog was clinging to our front
door...in February.
Also, a friend of ours also in Houston County had an American Woodco
Late yesterday afternoon there were 4 snowy owls along MN 11 near
Donaldson, MN. 2 were east of town a couple of miles and 2 were west of
town about one 1/2 miles. Three of the birds had barring, one of the birds
west of town looked to be an adult male.
