An adult Golden-crowned Sparrow, found earlier in the day by Laurie
Wachholz, was very cooperative for numerous birders this evening at Lake
Camelot Park in Plymouth, just west of 494, south of county highway 47.
Take the Bass Lake Road exit from 494, and go east. Go south at county 61,
then west
I was at Albany sewage pond this late afternoon. A good number of migrating
birds including:
1 snow goose
Several greater white fronted geese
Red head ducks
Hooded mergansers
Buffle heads
Scaup
Shovelers
Lesser and greater yellowlegs
Kildeer
Blue wing teals

I just observed an American Bittern calling from one of my ponds. This is the
first time I have been actually been able to see and hear one call at the same
time...Pretty cool.
This morning, I had two male Buffleheads and a male Ring Necked Duck in my
large pond.

As of 3:45 a Bittern was still visible in the NE part of the 140th St.
marsh. It was doing some preening, and also some swaying with its neck and
body. Though partly out of the rushes, its camouflage was still
challenging, but the looks were worth the effort.

This afternoon, 17 April 2017, Erika and I found an Orange-crowned Warbler
at the western unit of the Cannon River Wilderness Area in Rice County. It
fed in the tangles near the ground. The bird appears to be eating a small
beetle in the photograph in our eBird checklist:

this morning. There was a single Ross's Goose on the first north pond at the
180th Street marsh. Sora Rails could be heard at both places.
