After getting home tonight and reviewing the photos I took of the bird what
appeared to be
an definite orange underside wash through my binoculars was not at all apparent
in the
photos. There appeared to be only a slight pinkish tinge
There was a Short-eared owl this evening hunting the grasslands on both
sides of CR 13 about .8 miles north of the intersection with CR 12. This is
in Hamden Slough NWR north of Audubon.

Scott Meyer and I have had some interesting sightings in Lincoln and Lyon
counties over the past 2-1/2 hours
Snowy Egret with a Great Egret at Twin Lakes on Lincoln County 1.
5 American Avocets at the Hendricks sewage ponds.
5 White-faced Ibis at the Coon Creek WMA west of Russell in Lyon
Our group just found and counted over 600 American Golden Plovers west of US 75
and west of the Madison WMA 3 miles north of Madison. Ken Larson

We just found a Say's Phoebe in Mound Springs SNA. The
bird was located all the way to the sound end of the
minimum maintenance road at the southern boundary of
the SNA.

Around 8:30 this morning a group of us flushed up a pair of White-faced
Ibises from Omro WMA at the southwest corner of the intersection of 320th
St. and 230th Ave. in Yellow Medicine County. The birds eventually flew out
of site to the northwest. There were also 11 Black-crowned Night-Herons
that
