Flowers are appearing in the northern woods this week, and migrants are
flooding in. I
Hi Birders,
A cool morning didn't deter 30+ Birders from seeing and hearing 62 species
including 15 Species of Warblers!
Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose
Wood Duck
Mallard
Blue winged Teal
Sharp Shinned Hawk
Coopers Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Bald Eagle( 3 Adults) wow
Wild Turkey
Ring-billed Gull
Elizabeth Beck and Jonathan Beck (myself) just spotted a red headed woodpecker
in Lakewood Cemetery at 5:00pm. The bird was spotted just north of the elk
statue. It gave us excellent looks for about 5 minutes before flying to the NW

Some late afternoon birding on the Vermillion River in Farmington yesterday
May 10 turned up Magnolia, Am. Redstart, Yellow, and Golden-winged
Warblers, an Empidonax flycatcher, and an Olive-sided Flycatcher.
Caroll's Woods, Rosemount, this AM had Scarlet tanager, Rose-breasted
Grosbeak.
FOY Great Creasted Flycatcher, Golden winged Warbler, Blue gray
Gnatcatcher, and Swainson's Thrush.
Today in Thompson Park near Hwy 52.

We did not even try for the bunting this morning. There were about 30 cars
in the driveway and along the highway.

There are northern waterthrushes singing, one singer on each side of the
river. Heard as well, Nashville, black-and-white, yellow-rumped warblers,
one ovenbird. Also one probable black-throated green.
