This afternoon, Monday, re-found both the Say's Phoebe (Felton Prairie,
3-ish) and the Western Wood Pewee (Buffalo River State Park, 5-ish, after
an hour or so of listening).

The Minn Birding Weekend trip (September 1-2-3-4) turned up a few birds of note
in NW Minn, although the birding was generally slow much of the time. We
primarily covered parts of Lake of the Woods, Roseau, and Marshall counties…

There is always a difference in year to year migrations, and this fall has been
noticeably different than last year. I am guessing that fall 2016 may be the
high bar for what I should expect in terms of warbler numbers and variety on a
day to day basis in August and early September. Fall 2017
As many birders are aware, Minnesota is experiencing a Red Crossbill
irruption. The majority of reports are coming from the western third of the
state but there are also reports from the past few weeks of birds farther
north and east.
For the past month I have been working with Matt Young of Corne
Ron Erpelding found 19 Red Crossbills at the Lutheran cemetery in Grove City
this morning. The church is on the north side of Hwy 12 as you come into town
from the east and the cemetery is behind the church.
