Oops! I had the sunset time wrong. That is important, because the peak
time for evening return flights into the Refuge is about 1 hour before
sunset. We had witnessed that same 1-hour-before-sunset peak during
several previous years.

Feeding this morning in the wet area on the east side of the entrance to
the current Xcel project at the wetland. It was right next to the temporary
platform laid out to the marsh, and flushed as I approached.

Late yesterday afternoon I found 3 White-winged Scoters and 3 female/juvenile
Black Scoters on Sleepy Eye lake. This morning Mike Oetken, John Schladweiler
and I found the WW SC's but couldn't confirm any BL SC. Best spot to look for
them is off of 4th Ave NW (one block west of Hwy 4) on the S
SUTA reported yesterday by several birders returned to platform feeder and
surrounding trees this morning @ 8:30 (10/27) at NW corner of Edmund Blvd
and 33rd St in Minneapolis (along West River Pkwy).
