Today in the early afternoon, at the new viewing area on the Mississippi River
and a bit further south,
we saw several thousand tundra swans, many northern pintails, northern
shovelers,
gadwalls, green-winged teals, wood ducks, hooded mergansers, and one coot.

Last Tuesday, I visited the Rydell National Wildlife REfuge just southwest of
Erskine Minnesota on County Road 210 and observed two pairs of red-necked
grebes on Rice Lake and on Golden Pond. I also saw a pair of trumpeter swans on
Golden Pond. Driving west on County road 45 from Mentor, I saw

I went to the Wildcat Creek delta south of Brownsville
and saw several snipes as well as a couple of killdeer.

Today around 1pm I drove to Prairie Island and looked along the backwaters=

Yesterday, I also spotted in that area (Mile Marker 11) several northern=

I went to the sewage pond south of Lewiston last evening and saw fourteen=
American Avocets there. What a beautiful bird! Go south of Lewiston and=
turn right on County road 8. The pond will be on your left.

28 at the sewage treatment pond just south of Lewiston, on Township Road 8.
